Privacy Policy

At FrameTrek, we aim to be open about the way our site works to collect user data. We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of our website visitors; this policy sets out how we will treat your personal information.

By visiting FrameTrek, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use.

1. What Personal Information About Users Does FrameTrek Gather?

The information we learn from users helps us personalise and continually improve your experience at FrameTrek. Here are the types of information we gather.

  • Information You Give Us: We receive and store any information you enter on our Website or give to us in any other way. We use the information that you provide for such purposes as responding to your requests, customising future browsing for you, improving our site, and communicating with you. We store the information that you provide to us for registering with us and for subscribing to our website services, email notifications and/or newsletters (including name, email, and communication preferences) and any other information that you choose to send to us.
  • Automatic Information: We receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with us. For example, like many Web sites, we use “cookies,” and we obtain certain types of information when your Web browser accesses FrameTrek or any related website.
  • We use services like Google Analytics, heat-maps and screen recordings to analyse the use of this website, including information about you, your computer or mobile device and about your visits to, and use of this website (including but not limited to your IP address, geographical location, browser type and version, operating system, referral source, length of visit, page views, website navigation, demographics, interests, etc.). Analytical services such as Google Analytics generate statistical and other information about website use by means of cookies, which are stored on users’ computers. The information generated relating to our website is used to create reports about the use of the website. This information is stored by the analytical service provider. Google’s privacy policy is available at: http://www.google.com/privacypolicy.html
  • When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
  • Facebook integration: We embed Facebook Comments plugin to allow you to leave comment at our website using your Facebook account. This plugin may collect your IP address, your web browser User Agent, store and retrieve cookies on your browser, embed additional tracking, and monitor your interaction with the commenting interface, including correlating your Facebook account with whatever action you take within the interface (such as “liking” someone’s comment, replying to other comments), if you are logged into Facebook. For more information about how this data may be used, please see Facebook’s data privacy policy: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/update
  • Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

2. How long we retain your data?

  • If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
  • For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (their username might be an exception from this). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
  • Your personal data will be retained whilst you continue to be an active subscriber, and for up to 3 years afterwards.
  • In all other cases, we will erase your data once it is no longer necessary for the purpose we obtained it for.

3. How do we use your data?

We process your personal data under, ‘article f – legitimate interest’ and ‘article 6(1)(a) – consent’ of the General Data Protection Regulation 2018. Personal information submitted to, and acquired via, this website will be used for the purposes specified in this privacy policy and/or in relevant parts of the website.
