The movie tells the tale of an unlikely love triangle during the turmoil of the French Revolution. The three lovers are Sydney Carton, a dissipated and alcoholic English lawyer, Charles Darnay, a former French aristocrat now accused of spying against England, and Darnay’s fiancee Lucie Manette.

The story is based on the historical novel of the same title, first published in 1859, written by the acknowledged writer Charles Dickens. Would you like to read the book?
