The movie tells the tale of Richard Hannay, a Canadian visitor of London, who meets Annabella Smith, a woman who is on the run from foreign agents. Hannay hides her in his apartment, but when she is found stabbed to death, he knows he will be accused of the murder.
Now Hannay is on the run from the police, trying to break the spy ring and prove his innocence.

The story is based on the thriller novel of the same title, first published in 1915, written by Scottish novelist John Buchan. Would you like to read the book?
